​

Sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the webinar, “Managing and Communicating About Higher Education Crises,” discussed how a community college’s team effectively managed and communicated about six crises within a short time period. During the webinar, attendees learned about (1) transparent crisis communication plans that strengthened support among external stakeholders, (2) the many tactics and channels you can use to communicate key messages and (3) the deepened commitment of current donors to the community college foundation.

Dr. Linnie Carter Presents at National Conference of the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations

​

Held in New Orleans, the national conference featured marketing and public relations professionals from community colleges throughout the United States.

​

Dr. Carter presented “Speak Your Donors’ Language: Tips to Sharpen Donor Communications.” She discussed effective communication methods for community college donors, which fundraising projects donors might support, why donors contribute to community colleges and which key messages might resonate with community college donors.

Carter Scholars Inc., a nonprofit organization established by Kevin and Linnie Carter, recently appointed three new board members.

​

  • Ms. Bonnie Newman Davis is the Greensboro News & Record – Janice Bryant Howroyd Endowed Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North Carolina A&T State University.

  • Ms. Wynette A. Richardson is an English Instructor at Halifax Community College in Weldon, N.C., and CEO of Verbal Elations Motivational Speaking Firm.

  • Dr. Kim Smith is an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.

Dr. Linnie Carter Keynotes Community College Honor Society Induction Ceremony

Dr. Linnie Carter, the president and CEO of Linnie Carter & Associates LLC and a community college vice president, was the keynote speaker of a community college honor society induction ceremony on March 17.

​

Held at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, the ceremony celebrated more than 350 HACC students, who are now members of Phi Theta Kappa, the premier honor society for community college students and the largest honor society in the world.

​

Dr. Carter discussed the culture of competition, highlighted HACC alumni who are competing and winning professionally and shared tips for effectively competing in life.
