Dr. Linnie Carter Serves as Guest Speaker during Doctoral Program Class

Dr. Linnie S. Carter, APR, the president and CEO of Linnie Carter & Associates LLC and a community college vice president, was a guest speaker during an Old Dominion University Ph.D. in Community College Leadership Program class.
​
The class was held on Oct. 25 and was comprised of intelligent, engaged, enthusiastic and inquisitive doctoral students. The students aspire to be community college presidents.
​
Dr. Carter’s topic was “The Art of Fundraising: Top 11 Fundraising-Related Expectations of Community College Presidents.” During the presentation, Dr. Carter discussed expectations, tips for interacting with donors and resources to improve fundraising skills.

During the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) national conference in Anaheim, California, Dr. Carter was one of six panelists who discussed “Building a Relationship of Trust Between the Head of the College and the Foundation” on Oct. 13, 2017. The panelists included three community college presidents and their chief advancement officers.

During the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) national conference in Charleston, South Carolina, Dr. Carter presented “Leveraging the Talents of Marketing and Fundraising Professionals to Communicate With Donors” on March 27, 2017.
​
The three-hour session focused on “making the pitch” and how marketing and fundraising teams can collaborate to effectively communicate with donors. Included in the discussion were real-life strategies that can be easily implemented to shape messaging to donors and enhance other donor-focused communication tactics.
