Linnie S. Carter
Linnie Carter (pronounced "Line-knee") has more than 16 years of experience in public relations, marketing and communications and more than 14 years of higher education and administrative experience.
From 2005 to 2009, she served as the vice president of college advancement at Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) and executive director of the LFCC Educational Foundation Inc. In that role, she directed and managed fundraising, public relations, alumni affairs, community relations, governmental relations, graphic design, marketing, special events, publications, grants, Web design and development and foundation board activities.
Also, she was the director of institutional advancement at John Tyler Community College and executive director of the John Tyler Community College Foundation Inc. from 2000 to 2004, the public relations manager at the Richmond Metropolitan Authority (RMA) from 1998 to 2000 and a public relations specialist at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) from 1992 to 1998. She was promoted once at the RMA and twice at VCU. In addition, from 2000 to 2001, she served as an adjunct faculty member at VCU.
Carter earned a doctorate in community college leadership from Old Dominion University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mass communications from VCU. Also, she earned the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) designation from the Universal Accreditation Board.
